Athletes with Disabilities
Pistol shooting is an ideal sport for people with physical disabilities. Particularly for ISSF matches which don’t require changing shooting position, disabled people can compete alongside able-bodied competitors. All that is needed is one steady arm and a good eye.
At State Championship level and higher, events are conducted to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) rules. Events consist of 10m Pistol, 25m Pistol and 50m Pistol.
Shooting Australia runs a Paralympic program for talented shooters and VAPA can assist with coaching for those wishing to strive to the highest level.
