What is it Integrity?
Letter From the President
Pistol Australia Integrity Education Plan
What is it?
We all agree participants in our sport should feel safe and protected. Whether its about bad behaviour or drugs, gambling, equality etc we need to know everyone is going to do the right thing – to protect us and each other.
Up until now, we have relied on everyone following VAPA’s Procedures and Codes of Conduct – to know what and what not to do – to cover legal and moral obligations to officials, members, and especially juniors.
This is no longer the case, and the Australian Institute of Sport have drawn up the new Sport Integrity Education Plan. This is a series of online courses which include existing procedures and add things like gender equality, gambling, drugs, how to deal with problems arising from harassment and bulling etc.
What does it mean to me?
Whether you are a competitor, range official, coach, or administrator there is a course, or courses, to be completed before you will be able to be involved. The PA education plan sets out who needs to do what courses and when. You just complete the courses that relate to your position in the organisation. This is done online at https://pistol.org.au/policies/
At the end of the courses, you will receive a shield for every course you have completed, it not only shows you have read the material in the course but have also answered all the questions in the course.
We encourage everyone involved in the Pistol Australia community to familiarise yourself with the education plan and policies. We believe this is a better and more productive way for VAPA to say to members, juniors, parents, and the government, that we are committed to upholding our values and integrity in this sport.
Please read the Pistol Australia Integrity Education Plan and the information sent to you either by your club secretary, or the Coaching Council or Referee Council. Once completed please send your certificates to the Coaching or Referee Council and to the VAPA Secretary.

Bob Maddocks,
